So the IT department at my employer, a university, has decided, for the sake of security, that we can no longer use IMAP, SMTP, or POP. email clients with our MS Exchange Online account. Thunderbird? Banned. Geary? Banned. Kmail? Evolution? Banned, banned, banned.
To add insult to injury, outlook for Windows and the default mail client on MacOSX are still perfectly supported. I get that SMTP/etc. can have their security flaws, but, idk.
I get "most people" don't regularly use desktop email clients and many prefer using a browser. Using a browser is perfectly fine to me. The whole situation just…feels like another damn obstacle to getting people to actually take desktop Linux seriously.
